NEWS FLASH

Buju Banton: Too Bad CD release and new website

Gargamel Music, Inc. CEO Mark Myrie pka Buju Banton, is extremely pleased to announce the launch of the Gargamel Music web site at www.gargamelmusic.com. Developed over the course of several months with New York-based Akium Interactive (www.akiuminteractive.com), the cutting-edge web site will serve as the official destination point for all things Buju Banton and Gargamel Music.

Fans can comb the content-heavy site for the latest news, bio and background information on Buju Banton and the entire Gargamel Music roster, check out behind the scenes photographs, listen to and watch exclusive interviews and purchase new music, t-shirts and artwork. “Our goal was to use the latest web technology to enhance Buju Banton and the Gargamel Music brand—not to define it,” explains Ramiel Sosa, Creative Director of Akium Interactive.

Buju Banton’s spectacular new album Too Bad was released in the US and Caribbean last Tuesday, September 12th and has already received glowing reviews from the Village Voice, Trace magazine online, Hard Beat News online, All Music Guide online, Billboard magazine and Associated Press, which ran in 40 newspapers/sites across the country including the LA Times and the Washington Post. See excerpt: “Too Bad is a full body workout: The hyper “Hey Boy” for the feet, the naughty “Waistline,” and the Sly & Robbie produced “Driver A” for the hips. No need to pick songs from Too Bad to play at a party—this album is it’s own playlist. Buju Banton doing dancehall is dangerous indeed. Last time he bested Marley. Who’s next?”

Too Bad is the legendary Banton’s first pure dancehall project in over a decade and the first full-length project on his Gargamel Music record label. The street single “Nothing” is steadily rising to the top of the charts in Jamaica while the commercial single “Fast Lane” continues to bubble stateside. The official release date for Canada is October 10th.

Be sure to catch Buju Banton on the Too Bad US Tour hitting a city near you. For regular updates check the Tours section on the Gargamel Music website at www.gargamelmusic.com or Buju Banton’s My Space page at www.myspace.com/bujubanton.

IN JAH'S NAME WE PRAY
Safe Place to Learn
By Curt Byrum

This week in The United States of America there were three separate school shootings resulting in ten fatalities. Since 1997 there have been school shootings in seventeen states. From Alaska to Colorado, from Florida to Vermont, our children are no longer safe at their own schools. There have been four school shootings this year and it is only the beginning of the school calendar year in most states. It appears that no school is immune.

This tragic phenomenon has shown no intention of stopping itself, so I believe we as parents and citizens should place our school system under a , “State Of Emergency”. We must address this violence immediately as children are our future. We need to find real ways to deter crimes committed against them. We cannot wait for our representatives to act. We must band together to assure our children a safe place to learn.

Please join us this week as we pray for the survivors who are still clinging to life, and for the families of these young and innocent victims. We send our love and blessings. You are in our hearts and prayers.

Love, peace, and prosperity, James Curt

ABOUT REGGAE FESTIVAL E-GUIDE

The weekly E-Guide is a wonderful resource for those who live, love and enjoy reggae and its vibrant culture. It encompasses the food, music and spirituality that define the unique and diverse community. You can expect CD releases and industry news, band tours, Caribbean recipes and travel, inspirational pieces, reggae trivia and of course, upcoming reggae festivals.

For years, the Reggae Festival Guide Magazine received numerous requests for updates on festivals via email, and on May 2, 2004, the webmaster of ReggaeFestivalGuide.com, Kristine Cummins partnered with the magazine (RBA Publishing), and published the first emailed issue of the E-Guide E-Newsletter. Within a few months, the E-Guide went from less than 100 to over 2500 subscribers! [Click here for amount of current subscribers]. In May of 2005, we upgraded the appearance to full color and now, a year later, we're back to free subscriptions and proud to announce our new Editor, Justine Ketola. Click here to email Justine.

In September, 2006 Peter Fleming of bandVillage began to produce the eguide.
