NEWS FLASH
Groundation on Tour
By Bob Slayton

Groundation on Tour Groundation is currently in Europe on a 7 week tour, they just played and headlined "Summerjam" to over 35,000 people. They will be returning in mid August and doing a few local shows and working on their next release.

We have plans to back to Europe again late September thru mid October, and to South America in November. Look for them in February doing their yearly Bob Marley Tribute tour, and then in April thru early June doing a USA tour. Apple Gabriel would like to pass on his sincere regrets that he was unable to perform on a few dates on the last mini tour of California and Hawaii with Groundation as he had Broncitis. He was in and out of 3 different emergency rooms on this 3 week mini tour.

Young Tree Records Releases

Groundation w/ Apple Gabriel & Don Carlos "We Free Again"
Pablo Moses "Pave the Way" + dub
The Congos "Give Them the Rights"
Andrew Campbell "Mr Bass Man All Stars"
Winston Jarret Anthology a 2 cd set "Survival Is the Game"

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. Play lists etc. are always welcome. And once again, Thank you all so much. You are the BEST!

By Dennis Damp

[Click Here For Downloadable Gig Checklist (PDF)]

It's a good idea to prepare a gig checklist to remember everything your band will need for an upcoming show. Your band will not want to forget any equipment or necessary items - especially if your show is miles away from home. Below is an example of a Gig Checklist. Feel free to copy it to your word processor and use it or something similar for you gigs. Your band checklist may include more items so we have left some blanks for any other special items you may need. Also included on the list is a reminder for business cards and press kits so that you don't miss an opportunity to promote future shows. IN JAH'S NAME WE PRAY
Evidence of Changes in Earth's Climate
By Kristine Cummins, Publisher of the Reggae Festival E-Guide

Evidence of Changes in Earth's Climate Global warming has scientific evidence worldwide and the Union of Concerned Scientists are gathering the facts. Changes in the Earth's climate is under way, and there are small steps each person can do to help take of our Mother. Quoting from the Union of Concerned Scientists, "Americans' per capita emissions of heat-trapping gases is 5.6 tons - more than double the amount of western Europeans - we can all make choices that will greatly reduce our families' global warming impact."

Of course, changes are inevitable on planet earth - such as how each human changes throughout a lifetime, but being conscientious helps us stay connected to the creations that keep us alive.

Mother Earth Changes

* Since the beginning of the 20th century, Earth's mean surface temperature has increased by about 1.1°F (0.6°C).

* Over the last 40 years, which is the period with the most reliable data, the temperature increased by about 0.5°F (0.2-0.3°C).

* Warming in the 20th century is greater than at any time during the past 400 to 600 years.

* Mountain glaciers the world over are receding.

* The Arctic ice pack has lost about 40 percent of its thickness over the past four decades.

* Global sea level is rising about three times faster over the past 100 years compared with the previous 3,000 years.

* A growing number of studies show plants and animals changing their range and behavior in response to shifts in climate.

REGGAE BIZ MARKETING
Effective Use of Promotional Products and Ad Specialties
By Dan Safkow

1. Determine the goals of your promotional products program. Do you want to create awareness? To attract new customers? To reward or provide incentives to existing customers? Remember to determine a means for measuring the results.

2. Plan ahead. At minimum, you'll need two to four weeks for production and delivery of standard products. If you wait until the last minute, your choices will be limited and you may pay more. When creating custom items, it can take 12 weeks or more shipping from overseas sources.

3. Involve your target audience. Be creative in how you distribute your promotional products and make it a memorable experience for the recipient. Also create an "out of box" experience whenever possible by creatively packaging your gifts and awards.

4. Choose promotional products that have "legs." Put your logo on products that your target customer will see often. For instance, products that are kept on the desk, in the car, or on the refrigerator can create dozens of impressions per day.

5. Get free ideas. Don't always ask your promotional products specialist for the standards such as mugs and pens. Instead, tell your promotional products specialist your budget and target audience, and let them make creative recommendations from their database of over half a million products.

Dan Safkow is a 20-year veteran of promotional marketing and the owner of Promo Ideation http://www.promoideation.com, a promotion products distributorship and marketing consultancy. Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com.
