Spicy Eggplant
* 2 medium-size eggplants (abut 2 lbs), peeled and cut into 3/4" pieces
* 1 tbsp oil
* 5 garlic cloves, minced
* 2 tsp minced fresh ginger
* 1/2 cup chicken boullion, or vegetable broth
* 2 tbsp. soy sauce
* 2 tbsp. rice vinegar
* 1 tsp. dark sesame oil
* 1 tbsp. sugar
* 1 tsp. hot chili-garlic sauce
* 4 scallion, chopped
* 1 or 2 tomatoes, coarsely chopped
Directions
1. Heat oil in a large non-stick pan or wok.
2. Stir fry eggplant until slightly darkened, from 2 to 3 minutes.
3. Reduce heat, and add garlic, ginger and stir-fry for 1 minute.
4. Add boullion, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, sugar and chili-garlic sauce and bring to boil.
5. Cook, uncovered and stirring often, until eggplants are tender and sauce has thickened, about 5 minutes.
6. Stir in onions and tomatoes, and season with salt to taste.
7. Cook 5 more minutes. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if you wish.

The Second Annual Dreadstock Caribbean & Reggae Music Festival is
Scheduled for September 24 & 25 in Vallejo, California (San Francisco Bay Area)
The 2nd Annual Dreadstock Caribbean & Reggae Music Festival is a fun-filled weekend of music, arts and crafts, food, entertainment and community festivities. The festival is organized to benefit the Unity Life Youth Project and the Diaspora Inheritance Foundation. Festival is located on the beautiful grassy lawn of the Vallejo Marina adjacent to the Vallejo Ferry Terminal. 320 Mare Island Way, Vallejo, CA, 11:00am 9:00pm daily.
Performing Live Sat September 24 is Barrington Levy (photo to right) also Malika Madremana, Afrika Bambaataa, Earl Zero, Dub FX, Resination, Red I and Lucky Cat. Sundays performance includes Junior Reid, Johnny Osbourne, Groundation, The Rastafarians, Wadi Gad, Native Elements, Jahmana, Blaak Lung, Reggae Angels, Prophecy and many more. Family Fun includes I-Path Skateboard Exhibition, an opportunity for kids to paint the world's largest children mural, food, arts and crafts, along with many other community festivities.
Dreadstock Festival 2005 is a fundraiser for the Unity Life Youth Project and the Diaspora Inheritance Foundation.
About the Unity of Life Youth Project Our mission is to provide urban and suburban youth holistic development through: mentorship counseling, promoting healthy relationships, mentoring positive social interaction skills, teaching computer applications, developing career-based skills and community involvement.
About the Diaspora Inheritance Foundation The foundation is dedicated to healing by "Intervening with opportunities," enhancing lives, preserving culture and creating economic opportunities for at-risk communities. Through associating promising careers, education and recreational activities with trends in urban culture, we create alternatives for at-risk youth who suffer from poverty and are traumatized by violence.

Getting free advertising is never easy. Here are few simple steps that will help you to stand out.
1. Give Testimonials
When you purchase a CD, music book, or any product or service and it exceeds your expectations e-mail the band/business a testimonial. Tell them in the testimonial the benefits you got from the product or service. Give them permission to publish the testimonial on the web site if they include your sig file at the end.
2. Leave A Message
When you visit a web site with a discussion board leave a message. You could post a question, interesting content or a compliment about their web site. Include your signature file at the end of the message. Some discussion boards let you post your banner ad or text link.
DON'T spam the board. Offer good, solid comments and your effort will be rewarded. That goes for the next unique way too...
3. Sign Guestbooks
When you visit a well designed website leave a compliment on their guest book. You could give them a compliment on their content, ease of navigation, graphics etc. When you post your compliment include your sig file so other people will see it when they sign the guest book.
4. Write A Review
When you visit a website you enjoyed a lot, write a review for the website. Write about the benefits you gain from the site, the website design, interesting online services it offers etc. E-mail the review to the site. Tell them they can publish it on their web site if they include your resource box at the end.
5. Send An E-mail To The Editor
When you read a good article or enjoy a certain e-zine, e-mail a compliment to the editor. Give the editor permission to publish the compliment in their e-zine if they include your signature file at the end. The editor may post it on his or her website.

I could make this section, "In Jah's Name We Pray" simple for me to write, and choose from the many articles on unfortunate topics in the World to bring to light. But what I would like to talk about, is something that I admittedly have been for most of my life... "Apathetic".
In addition to that, doesn't it seem like there is a lot going on in the world that is not good? Maybe I feel this way because I live in the States, and we have been facing some very big issues i.e. Hurricane Katrina, Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency of the U.S. (FEMA) resigns once everyone finds out that his experience is running the International Arabian Horse Association, and the fact that 25,000 Iraqi citizens and 3,000 of our military sons have died. Sorry for the run-on sentence, but I could go on and on!
My ears have popped up. I have been reading like a mad man. I have been listening to radio talk shows with personalities of many political stances. I've always known which direction my political stance swings, but I really wasn't educated on the details... the facts. Now that I feel I have educated myself on the latest issues regarding the environment and politics in my country, I am angry.
How does one's voice be heard? I feel I am a grain of sand on a beach. The only things I know to do is to join an active organization, write letters, and bring awareness to my friends. I probably drive my friends nuts with my political emails. I have day dreams of covering my car with political bumper stickers, but I'm afraid I will be ran off the road. I'd love to show my political digital art at my upcoming art show, but I'm afraid of dirty looks.
The truth is, we all have opinions about politics in general, but to be apathetic in the end, could have serious consequences for our children and grandchildren.... our future.
No matter what country you live in, what religious affiliation you have, what race you are, what political stance you take, now is the time to be active in your community - a single voice is heard in masses right? The less active you are, the more freedoms could slip away before you know it.
In Jah's name I pray, and I hope all of you, to become more aware of the world around us, and as a result, either get active or stay active in our communities!

A typical vacation to Caribbean islands conveys a stereo typed idea of an exotic land remembered by images of blue sunny skies, Havana Cigars, carnivals, voodoo magic and palm trees! But there is more to this group of islands than just a conventional picture of booze and fun! Or those classical pictures of James Bond and Dr.No; The Three Blind Men and the seductive Honey Rider! It is just only one of many that make up the real Caribbean. One of the most striking and amazing things about the Caribbean region is its diversity and cultural speciality. Every island is unique and every region is special with contrasting landscapes, ecosystems, ethnicities, and foods.
Every Caribbean island has some thing of its own to offer to travelers! If you're looking for that special, erotic swinging nightlife, peaceful tranquility, golfing, diving, sailing, gambling or camping, some are found on a few islands while in others you do not find them. In total, the Caribbean islands are about 90,000 square miles of landmass of small islets, half of it hilly or mountainous and the other half flat land. Most of them are a great scenic combination of the water and earth, circled by sandy beaches, blue lagoons and pristine coves. With more than 20 Island nations to choose and visit, one needs to be very wise and prudent in identifying. What ever the choice, this is a magnificent region overall, has a lazy paced life style, numbers of activities and recreation options to choose from and a year round tropical ambience. The more one knows about these finer details, the more one becomes infatuated with the islands! Caribbean vacation has thousands things to offer and million things to learn!
Caribbean vacation displays a benevolent Mother Nature who is extraordinarily diverse and a great artist. It is perfect picture post card sceneries all over the region, almost on the verge of the work of a Renaissance master! Back drop of cool mountains, like a drapery screen with tall palm trees to give company. Clear blue skies with occasional cotton like white clouds! Crystal clear seas with numerous bays, lagoons and shallow beaches with palm tress dotted all over! Which ever the region one chooses, get stunned by what is seen --from volcanic mountains to stretches of tropical forests, clear streams to wild ocean, mangrove swamps to sand dunes, huge rock formations to colorful coral reefs. Get excited by limestone hillocks and caves, rivers both over ground and subterranean, waterfalls, rainforests, lakes and teeming wild life. And always there is the ubiquitous sea. Spectacular is the metaphor for all encompassing seas and beaches!
Caribbean vacation can bring the other darker side of life too! Rare earth quakes and violent spewing volcanoes can make one tremble with fear up their spine, while gusty winds and torrential rains of a destructive hurricane can be a sight in fury! Look out for all those tiny sand islets created and destructed at the mercy of Mother Nature. The amazingly panoramic grandeur of the Caribbean defies one's imagination. One needs to be a true spectator to get immersed in the glory of the Caribbean vacation. The radiating beauty of the natural Caribbean is practically inescapable and beyond comprehension. No one is far from the panoramic sight of undulating hills, lovely gardens and clear blue seas. Just take a peep out of the window and take a look at the eternal sea. Or gaze beyond the wide expanse of lovely mountains! Most of the visitors get immersed in the splendor of these chains of exotic islands even before they know it.
A well earned Caribbean vacation is dream come true for nature buffs! Providence bestows its favor to all these lovely islands with what seems to be an endless number of species of plants and animals, many of them indigenous and more endangered! Myriads of varieties of plants and animals dot from high hills to low seas. Islands full of strange creatures; some exotic like butterflies and humming birds and others captivating like Sharks and turtles! Besides more well-known species like flamingoes, terns, and pelicans, bird watchers will have all the luck to have a glimpse of a Barrancoli, a Flautero, or a Bananaquit. Garden buffs might well recognize and relish Bougainvilleas, Hibiscus and Orchids, while food buffs will taste exotic tropical fruits and sea dishes. Due to paucity of information on the flora and fauna, it is best left to a traveler to do his own research and compilation and get ready for an experience of a life time.
Intriguing people, rich and diverse culture, exotic and delicious cuisine, and intoxicating reggae music; there's plenty to see and experience on the islands. While Grenada can be quiet and somber, lively San Juan can be too boisterous and active. The tiny islets of Barbuda and Barbados are full of sports while the sugar fields of Cuba can be a nostalgic colonial experience. The Caribbean vacation also offers a wide variety of physical landscapes; if one wants to relax on some of the prettiest beaches in the world, Aruba is an automatic choice, but if one wants to explore and trek the rain forests, Puerto Rico is the natural selection. The whole region has its own menu to offer! There are high mountains to climb and lush rain forests to explore. There are sandy deserts too sprinkled with scrub-trees, cacti, and boulders and that unbearable heat! Gently undulating hills covered with brilliantly colored grass and sugarcane fields surrounding those majestic 19th-century plantation mansions are like fresh whiff of wind.
A Caribbean vacation can be a visit to an unspoiled paradise full of vibrancy and life! Enchanting spots, lovely beaches, risky trekking trails, exotic food and gyrating reggae are all part of a heaven begging to be visited and explored! Lovely faces and cute braids are always high points of attraction. Home cottages, cold beer and delicious sea food are words of hospitality. The islands of Caribbean always remain the jewels in the crown of world tourism.
